Zesty Tomato -Seafood Bisque

Brewers played their first game today and tied. Let the fire Macha chants begin. Since Soupan pitched today here is a quick recipe for the tomato seafood soup I mentioned a few posts ago. Try it out, it was awesome.

Ingredients
*2 cans (19 oz.) Progresso Vegetable Classics hearty tomato soup
*1 can (7 oz.) Chopped green chilies (we only used a 4oz. can)
*1 cup whipping cream
*1 teaspoon seafood seasoning (ex. Old Bay)
*At least one cup cooked seafood of any combo ex. crab, shrimp, scallops, lobster (we had more than one cup and we used shrimp and crab)(use real crab meat, not imitation)

Directions
1)In 3-Quart saucepan, heat soup and chilies to boiling over medium heat.
2)Reduce heat to low, beat in whipping cream and seasoning with wore whisk until blended.
3)Cook until hot (DO NOT BOIL), stir in seafood let cook for a couple more minutes.
4)Eat.

Hope you enjoy the soup, it was excellent.

Vikings go after Sage Rosenfels

Ha. Good job grabbing up another backup quarterback nobody else wanted. You'll be watching the SuperBowl from the same spot I did this year. A couch.

Keep on making "moves".

Spring Training

The first exhibition game is tomorrow, while this isn't a game that will matter towards anything. It is good enough to know that the regular season is just over a month away. I cannot wait for it to start. Here is the starting pitching lineup so far, at least for spring training. This came from the JSONLINE.COM website. Jeff Suppan, Yovani Gallardo, Manny Parra, Braden Looper and Dave Bush. I would have made it Dave Bush, Yovani Gallardo, Manny Parra, Braden Looper and Jeff Suppan. Maybe putting Suppan first will light a fire under his ass and he will do something great for once. I hope Suppan can get his shit straight because I'm getting sick of complaining about him. Bush gets less respect than former President Bush and I don't get it. He is streaky, I'll give the nay sayers that, but he was great the second half of last year. I can understand not putting all the pressure on Yo right away, and I think he will be the best pitcher we have this year. I think we will have at least 3 or 4 allstars this year. I am betting on Braun, Fielder, Hardy and Gallardo. Not sure if I commented on the Gagne signing, but I like it. I recommended it weeks ago and it has happened. Our bullpen looks just as good last year in my opinion. We lost a couple of decent pitchers but picked up some that were just as good.

We are in the midst of planning another trip down to Milwaukee to check out a series, not sure who we will go and see though. The May 1st series against the D-Backs is the leading candidate. I am also thinking that going late in the year would be a good option, maybe a series against San Fran or possibly Philly at the end of the year. My wife and I are also going to see the Crew take on the scrubs on July 4th weekend in Chitown.

Gotta cook some food, peace.

Random Thoughts

Attn. Alex Roidriguez.
When you say, "We weren't taking Tic Tacs" and then announce your cousin injected you, I'll call you a bullshitter. You moron, you pop Tic Tacs like pills, are you sure you are telling us the whole truth? You did a worse job acting than the chick from Saved By The Bell in Striptease. What were you thinking of during that awkward 30 seconds of silence at the end of your statement? I didn't know if you were thinking of something sad to try and cry or something funny, because you almost broke out laughing at least twice. I would've given you better advice than the firm you paid for, FEMA after hurricane Katrina thinks you blew that one. Somewhere Joe Torre is laughing his ass off right now.

Mat Gamel showed up to spring training with a sore shoulder. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come for this kid. He has a great bat and needed the time at third, especially with Bill Hall hurt for a couple of weeks. This reminds me of last year, just when Tony Gwynn Jr. started showing some skill(during Cam's suspension), he got hurt and probably blew his best chance with the team. Gwynn Jr. is out of minor league options and has a slim chance of staying with the team, see ya in San Diego, Tony. Your name will get you farther in that organization, than it did here.

Tiger Woods is scheduled to be back at the matchplay tourney next week. Finally a reason to watch one of my favorite sports again. It was agonizing to try watch it while he was out. Did they even play the last two majors last year? Not sure. You know Tiger is only going to come back if the man is fully ready. The field better watch out for my boy, cuz he will intimidate you.

P.S. Fat boy Phil Mickleson sucks. I'd rather watch Michelle Wie than Phil.

Movies and Food

Movies and Food are some of my favorite things besides sports.

Movies I have seen recently and would recommend:
Eagle Eye, The Rocker, My Best Friends Girl

Movies to Avoid:
Max Payne, Pineapple Express

I made some bomb ass Chicken Fajitas the other night. My wife Sara also made some tasty soup the other night, it was some kind of tomato seafood soup. So good, just a little bit of spice to it. Cooking up different meals is a good time, I love eating good food, so I've had to learn how to cook over the years. Luckily my wife is a good cook with different recipies I've never tried or even would have thought of. Grilling is still my favorite way to cook, but untill we get a gas grill, I'm only doing that from spring to fall. Hopefully we can get one this summer. Gotta pick up a small gas grill for trips to Milwaukee. Have a nice week everybody.

Brett Favre

Brett has officially retired. Again. This isn't much of a suprise, he has been doing this for 4 years now. If his arm didn't get hurt last year he would have asked for his release and went and played for the rival Queens. I was kinda hoping he would have played for the Vikes, what better chance do you get to pound the living piss out of him. You would have at least two games a year to try and make him realize what kind of mistake it would be to wear purple. Besides he probably misses his boys Darren "Wishes he was a little" Sharper and Ryan "I'm a pussy and needed to kick indoors" Longwell. Go ahead and join them Brett. You might as well, you have already kicked the state in the collective junk. I'm still a fan of yours Brett, I did refuse to watch you in another teams jersey though. I will stay a fan of Bretts unless he goes to the Queens, then all bets are off. And judging by the soap opera Favre has put us through the last 4 years, I won't be sure you aren't coming back till at least November. You should have put your hatred for Ted Thompson aside for one more year to bring us to the SuperBowl. You were one play away the year before, but instead you went to the Jets. We all know how that ended, don't we Chad Pennington. You should have retired a Packer, and since you didn't grant us that dignity, you should have gotten to the playoffs so we got a better draft pick for you.

A-Ro(i)d and the Steroid Era

Well well well. A-Rod has admitted to using steroids for 3 years. Everybody is up in arms over this news, while it is disappointing that the one of the best players of our generation is now a liar and cheat, it isn't the most shocking news ever. I mean come on, who didn't see this coming. First the new home run king, Bonds was using, then the best pitcher of our generation, the Rocket was using, and now the guy everybody was hoping would take the home run throne from Bonds was found to be cheating. While I'm not condoning steroids, if guys like McGwire and Sosa weren't using them and hitting a record number of home runs, nobody would be watching baseball. The strike almost killed the sport and steroids brought it back from the dead. It resurrected attendance and gave everybody something to cheer for. Jose Canseco said two years ago that Alex was using and he denied it then, if Canseco was right about everybody else why didn't everybody believe him on A-Rod? Possibly because he is a juiced up freak with worse tatts than Tyson. (Did anybody else see the pics of him fighting Danny Bonadouche. The match ended in a freakin tie for god's sake.)

If A-Rod got outed for this list of 104 players, why haven't we heard some of the other names? It was supposed to be a confidential list, I want to know which guys I cheer for every game was on the list. For how often the Crew turns over players, the chances of them still being on the team are slim to none.

Nobody is perfect, Babe Ruth was a drunk womanizer, and Ty Cobb was a prick, but they didn't cheat. We already have the best pure hitter, Pete Rose, not in the hall for gambling. And I believe he would be in if he had admitted and apologized right away, instead of denying it for so many years. And Shoeless Joe banned for supposedly throwing the World Series. Now we have A-Rod, the Rocket, Bonds and McGwire; who should be allowed into Cooperstown, but they probably won't get in. They surely won't get in right away as was the case with Big Mac. It's too bad because these are some of the greatest players we will ever see play, they were great before they took the steroids and didn't need them. They took the easy way out, like they say, "If you can't beat them, join them."

Milwaukee Bucks and Ben Sheets

I'm not the biggest follower of the Bucks. I have always followed how they stand in the rankings and such but never sit and watch them like I do with the Brewers and Packers. I did watch them a lot when I was younger, back when we had guys like Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson, and Vin Baker. Then I slowing stopped following them, just didn't care anymore. Pro basketball has never been as much fun to watch as college ball. Go Badgers, down with Marquette. Sorry Milwaukee area boys, I bleed Red. But the last couple years I have slowly been getting back into watching some games. Now this year looked kinda promising, until a week ago when Redd got hurt for the year, Bogut is out for 8 weeks and now Ridnour is out for 4 weeks. Oh another year passes by the Bucks, although they are not out of it, Nail meet Coffin. You guys went the way of the Badgers this year and unfortunately for the Pros there is no version of the NIT tourney.

Well as we figured Ben will need to have surgery on his elbow. Since this happened while he was a Brewer, the Brewers will have to pay for the surgery. An elbow surgery is cheaper than the 12 million we offered in arbitration, thank you Benny for rejecting that offer. See ya in August, where a desperate team might pick you up. I mean to say, see you back in a Brewers uni, cuz nobody else will risk it with you. It was reported that Ben had a verbal agreement pending a physical with the Rangers, but this whole ordeal threw a wrench into it. Sorry about your luck, from one guy who chews his nails to another. Keep it real homey. Stay in shape cuz we might need you later this season.

Gotta work at the bar tonight.
Stop in for a drink at the Friendly Bar in Star Prairie.
Some fine ass ladies in there every weekend, just watch out for Deb she is notorious for playing grab ass.
Word, to ya motha.

Tuesday Feb. 3rd

Not a whole lot of action in sports today as far as Wisconsin is concerned. The Badgers have played themselves out of the tournament at least a week ago. Five straight losses really surprised me with these guys. I thought they had a lot of talent leftover from last year and they lost a lot of close games to some pretty good teams. Lost to a bunch of games to ranked teams such as Texas, UConn, Perdue, Minnesota, and Illinois. Some they should have won and some they were lucky to keep it close. See ya in the NIT, now I know what it's like to be a Goopher fan for the last dozen or so years. Actually, I still don't know how bad that feels.

The official rank of Weezer cds.
1. Pinkerton (by far, especially with songs such as El Scorcho, the Good Life, Falling For You.)
2. Blue (very close to being number 1, songs like In The Garage, Buddy Holly, Say It Ain't So made this a rough call)
3. Green (let's be honest, everything after Pinkerton and Blue is a tossup except for Make Believe which was terrible.)
4. Maladroit
5. Red
6. Make Believe

Check out the newest poll, the last one was close but Release Him, Please. Barely edged out Trade him for some balls and a bat on the Bill Hall poll.
Discuss this amongst yourselves and get back to me.

Super Bowl/Shouse to the Rays

Old Man Shouse had just signed on with the Rays for two years. Sad to see ya go Shousy, you were the shortest oldest leftiest pitcher we had. Hopefully the SS attack(Swindle and Stetter) can hold up to the level you pitched against lefties. We both know they can't hold your jock, particullarily because it's so old it might crumble into dust. Good luck in Tampa ol boy.

Super Bowl 40something is today. Pittsburgh v. Arizona, who will win? I hope Arizona can pull it off, gotta go for the underdog here. The Steelers should destroy them, but so should have the Eagles, Panthers and Falcons. The Steelers are better than those teams and have had more time to prepare for this matchup, they won't underestimate the Cards the way the Panthers and Falcons seemed to. But that doesn't mean I'm taking the Steelers to win, even though I think they might. I think the Cards will win today, I'm just hoping they can protect old man Warner long enough to hit Fitz and Boldin for a couple touchdowns. At the end of the game I'd like to see Kurt Warner get hurt, take him out of the league on a high note. Just break a leg or something, something to keep him out long enough so he'll retire.

Off to go bartend this morning.
Peace.
